5 THINGS THAT COULD CAUSE A PROBLEM WITH YOUR PRINTER

Low impression of the print window test page:

Naturally, for many of us, the first reaction will probably be to assume that our ink / toner levels are low, and of course sometimes your instinct might be absolutely correct, you might need a new ink cartridge or toner, but there may be something else that launches a proverbial key in the operation of your printer and causes faint prints or discolored text.

The 5 most common causes of light or discolored impressions:

Low levels of ink and toner

As mentioned above, your cartridges may simply be empty or running out, so check them. You can do it on your PC by going into the control panel and looking at the properties of your printer, the status of your cartridges, which will tell you exactly how much ink or toner is left in the cartridges and if they pose a problem. For inkjet printers, also check that the cartridge nozzles are unobstructed and that there is no dry material to prevent the ink from flowing. If so, clean them with a slightly dampened cloth (making sure your printer is turned off and the cartridges are removed first).

Toner sticks to your fixing roller or problems with the transfer roller.

Problems with the melting roll

In your laser printer, the fuser is the part that heats the toner powder, helping it to stick and seal the paper to create an impression. From time to time, the toner may stick to the upper roll of the fuser unit. Try removing the fuser (after unplugging the printer) and check that the toner is stuck on the upper roll. If so, it's probably worth replacing with a new one that you should be able to buy online and have it delivered quickly enough.

Problems with the transfer roller

Your transfer roll uses its electrical charge to bring toner from the drum unit of your cartridge to the page. Sometimes it may be improperly positioned in your printer, which causes these light impressions. Remove it carefully using the hooks provided and try to insert it again.

Setting a low toner ink density

Some printers allow you to change the density settings for your ink and toner. Without your knowledge, your default setting might be low, which would cause you to get these weak prints. If your printer has toner density settings, you should be able to find them once you have clicked your printer in Devices and Printers. If it appears that you are printing at low density, increase it slightly, then try printing.

Your printer may be located in a low or high humidity area

The humidity in your office can actually affect the performance of your printer. Each ink / toner cartridge and the paper you use has an optimal operating humidity level and if the humidity is too high, problems can quickly occur. If your printer is in a room with low humidity, it may be difficult for the ink to fix and dry properly on the page, resulting in light and faint prints. The best place for your printer is a place that is not too wet.

Inkjet printheads are blocked or air bubbles are trapped in the ink tank.

For owners of inkjet printers, the mechanism that transfers the ink droplets to the paper called the print head can, during a period of regular use, lock or synchronize and cause weak or missing areas of printing on paper. Air bubbles trapped in the ink cartridge housing may be another cause of discoloration of the print areas.

The solution to each of these problems is to get a slightly damp cloth and clean the ink cartridges where the ink comes out. Remove the ink cartridges before doing so and do not leave ink on your skin or clothing as it can be very difficult to remove.
