WHAT CAN I DO WHEN MY CARTRIDGES ARE NOT RECOGNIZED BY MY PRINTER?

Your Samsung, HP, Brother, Canon, Ricoh or Epson printer does not recognize your new ink or toner cartridge? Many people feel this error when printing. This is actually one of the most common problems in the world of printing.

Why does this happen?

It may happen that after installing a new ink or toner cartridge in your printer, a message will appear, for example:

  • "The toner is not compatible."
  • "Printer cartridge not detected" or your printer can not detect any ink.
  • A low or empty ink and toner level on your computer screen.
  • HP printer with "HP cartridges locked" or "cartridge protection enabled".
  • A message on your printer notifies you "No cartridge installed" (or words for that purpose).
  • These messages can be caused by the following causes:
  • Resetting the internal memory:

When you install a new cartridge, your printer should recognize it automatically and reset its internal memory, making sure it displays all the ink and toner levels, and so on. However, sometimes the printer does not do it properly and instead makes you think that no cartridge is currently inserted.

Protective strips:

If you have not removed the protective covers or plastic strips that are attached to the new cartridge when you remove it from its packaging, the printer will certainly fail to register the new cartridge, which will cause you a small problem.

  • HP cartridge protection enabled
  • Ink cartridge incorrectly inserted

So here's what you need to do to try to solve the problem

First, do not panic. Regardless of the vendor, there should be no reason for a decent-quality original or compatible cartridge to not work with your printer, so with a little patience, you'll have it repaired. Try the following to correct the problem.

How to reset the printer memory:

- Remove your new cartridge and replace it with the old one.

- Leave your printer and go do something else for 10 minutes.

- Replace the old cartridge with the new one. These two steps alone often solve the problem, so check to see if your printer now recognizes your new cartridges. However, if you still have problems, remove the new cartridge. Be sure to place it in a clean, safe place where the cartridge and surface will not be damaged.

- Turn off the printer using its power button.

- Unplug the power cord from your printer. It is important to do both steps 4 and 5 separately because some printers remain in sleep mode if you turn off only the power button on the printer's control panel.

- Leave your printer like this for about 10 minutes.

- Reconnect the power cord of your printer (but do not press the power button immediately).

- Insert your new cartridge.

- Press the power button on your printer. The problem is probably solved.
