PRINTER DOES NOT RECOGNIZE COMPATIBLE CARTRIDGES

So here's what to do

The first thing to do is not to panic. Whether you bought them from any supplier, there is no reason for an original or compatible cartridge of good quality to not work in your printer, so with a little patience, we'll help you exit. Try the following steps to correct your problem.

How to reset the printer memory:

  • Remove your new cartridge and replace it with the old one. Leave your printer and go do something else for 10 minutes.
  • Replace the old cartridge with the new one, these two steps often solve the problem by themselves, so check if your printer now recognizes your new cartridges. However, if you still have problems ....
  • Remove the new cartridge. Be sure to place it in a clean and safe place where the surface of the cartridge will not be damaged.
  • Turn off the printer using the power button on the printer.
  • Unplug your printer on the wall. It is important to do both steps 4 and 5 separately, as some printers may remain in sleep mode if you have only turned off the power button on the printer's control panel. Leave your printer like this for about 10 minutes.
  • Reconnect your printer to the wall (but do not press the power button yet).
  • Insert your new cartridge
  • Press the power button on your printer

Hope you can now print with your new compatible ink cartridge or toner.

If it does not work....

Clean the metal contacts:

Metal contacts are usually visible on one side of the back of a toner cartridge or ink cartridge and look like a flat piece of copper, metal, or even a printed circuit board (please note that some ink cartridges have no contact at all). Here are the steps to follow:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it (for inkjet printers, skip this step because the cartridges must be removed before turning off the power).
  • Carefully remove your toner or ink cartridge and place it on one side on a flat surface where it will be safe.
  • Inspect the cartridge for metal contacts
  • Inspect the inside of the printer for the connection point.
  • Using a dry, lint-free cloth, lightly wipe the two cartridge and printer contacts to remove dirt or residue, taking care not to damage them.
  • Replace the cartridges in the printer
  • Turn the printer back on
  • Try to print again.

This should now fix any problems you may have with dirty contacts or microchips.
